Fighting games is about multiple skills - taking one away means alienating that part of the playerase, so I don't really see any place for argument - there's definitely some part of the (former) playerbase that's not coming back until SF6.Street Fighter V released in 2016, after a decade of Street Fighter IV dominating the series. Comebacks are essentially a given, and it's just not fun being beaten by a lesser player because you're unable to be rewarded for your better execution. I'm having a blast at DBFZ and Tekken, but I'm just sad to see my first fighting game series fall to the casual audience.Īlso, rewarding combos means you get something for it - without v-trigger or meter, you simply can't do very much damage. I want to be rewarded for being able to do multiple 1-2 frame links.Ĭould people be bluffing about all those combos they claim to want?Ĭan't speak for everyone, but nearly everyone I played SF4 with changed games when they tried SF5. It's not about lacking a specific character, it's about lacking depth.
